Adherence to the Principles and Recommendations of COPE, WAME, DORA, etc.

The Editorial Board of the journal "Plant Genetic Resources" adheres to internationally recognized principles of publication ethics and responsible scientific publishing, incorporating the recommendations of the following initiatives:

COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics)

The journal maintains the ethical standards defined by COPE:

  • Transparency in the submission, peer review, and publication processes;
  • Impartiality and independence of editors and reviewers;
  • Academic integrity — avoiding plagiarism, falsification, and redundant (double) publications;
  • Correct authorship — clear definition of each author's contribution;
  • Complaint handling — existence of open and clear procedures for considering appeals and ethical complaints;
  • Retraction and correction — clear procedures for retractions, corrections, and expressions of concern.

WAME (World Association of Medical Editors)

The Editorial Board adheres to the principles of editorial integrity applicable to all sciences, supporting approaches that promote transparency in editorial decisions, peer review independence, proper conflict of interest management, and accountability:

  • Editorial independence — decisions are made without pressure from sponsors, organizations, or commercial interests;
  • Conflicts of interest — mandatory disclosure by all authors, reviewers, and editors;
  • Peer review — ensuring objective, fair, and timely expert evaluation;
  • Funding transparency — disclosure of information regarding grants, sponsors, and research funding sources;
  • Support for early-career researchers — promoting publications by researchers at the beginning of their careers.

DORA (San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment)

The journal supports responsible research assessment and discourages evaluating manuscript quality or author’s contribution solely based on formal "journal metrics." Publication decisions are based on scientific quality, novelty, methodological rigor, and significance:

  • Beyond bibliometrics — assessing research by its quality, novelty and contribution rather than just impact factor or h-index;
  • Valuing diverse research outputs — recognizing software, datasets, algorithms, and technical solutions alongside articles;
  • Recognition of interdisciplinary research as equal to classical publications;
  • Encouraging Open Science — publication of preprints and open access to data and codes.

ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors)

The journal supports general principles applicable to all scientific fields:

  • Authorship criteria: only those who have made a substantial contribution to the work are listed as authors;
  • Research ethics: compliance with standards for data handling and experimental protocols;
  • Data sharing: encouraging authors to preserve and provide access to research data.

Other Modern Principles (Open Science, Plan S, FAIR Data)

  • Open Science — promoting open access to scientific results;
  • FAIR Data — ensuring data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable, providing the possibility of finding, accessing, compatibility, and reuse of data;
  • Plan S — supporting policies for publication in open-access journals and repositories.

Ethical use of AI — maintaining transparency and accountability when artificial intelligence is applied in research.

These principles are implemented through the journal's core operations and activities, specifically peer review process, publication ethics, complaint handling, AI usage policies, corrections, expressions of concern, and retraction notices.
