Abstract
Goal. According to the spectra of seed storage proteins, to reveal genetic differences in the sunflower mutants, which were previously identified for morphological traits after immature embryo treatment with ethylmethanesulfonate.
Results and discussion. Treatment of immature embryos of two sunflower lines with ethyl methanesulphonate resulted in selection of several mutants with easily identifiable marker traits. Characteristic of these mutants for a number of agronomic traits and spectra of seed storage proteins is presented. The studied mutants differed as well in plant height and number of days to flowering. The changes also affected 1000 seed weight and yield performance. The part of morphological mutants of sunflower was characterized by the changes in the spectrum of seed storage proteins for two loci.
Conclusions. It was established that some morphological mutants of sunflower with marker morphological characteristics differed not only in agronomic performance but also carried the changes in the spectrum of seed storage proteins. Differences in electrophoretic spectra of the mutants from the parental lines were manifested for highly polimorphic Hel 4 locus, as well as a two-component Hel 6 locus.
