Abstract
Aim. To investigate new spring vetch accessions, to select reference sources of valuable traits, to form and enrich the collection, to involve valuable spring vetch gene pool accessions in breeding and to use collections in training and educational programs.
Results and Discussion. The results of the study of spring vetch samples introduced from the Ternopil research station of the Institute of Fodder and Agriculture of the Podillia National Academy of Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, originating from Turkey, Germany, Turkmenistan, Serbia, Spain, and Austria, are presented. The samples were analyzed for valuable economic characteristics and sources of ultra-earliness were identified (UREM 79 UD0900233 (Turkey), Peloponnes UD0900635 (Germany), К34 UD0900426 (Yugoslavia), Blanchefleur UD0900414 (Germany). Also, samples UREM 79 UD0900233 (Turkey), К34 UD0900426 (Yugoslavia) were identified, Peloponnes UD0900635 (Germany), which have a short germination-flowering interphase period (39-40 days). A sample with a low weight of 1000 seeds (31-45g) was selected – Angernska 3 UD0900527 (Austria). For suitability for mechanized harvesting samples with a high attachment of the lower bean (> 80 cm) were selected – К44 UD0900551 (Spain), К31 UD0900422 (Turkmenistan). Samples with high resistance to downy mildew (9 points) were identified – Firense Vessia UD0900499 (Italy), К31 UD0900422 (Turkmenistan) Peloponnes UD0900635 (Germany) and before Fusarium wilt (9 points) – UREM79 UD0900233 (Turkey), Peloponnes UD0900635 (Germany), К31 UD0900422 (Turkmenistan), Angernska 3 UD0900527 (Austria), К65 UD0900787 (Turkey).
Conclusions. The studies on the collection of spring vetch ultra-early ripening samples were selected, samples from a low weight of 1000 seeds, from high fastening of beans on the stems and resistant to disease damage. These sources of valuable economic traits will be used in breeding programs and in the creation of new highly adapted varieties spring vetch.
