Abstract

Goal. Determination of spring triticale resistance of breeding lines to the pathogens of Septoria leaf blotch and brown leaf rust and selection of the best lines with increased resistance to diseases and a constellation of valuable economic traits.

Results and Discussion. The studies were carried out in 2013 – 2014 with contrasting weather conditions. Extremely dry conditions in 2013 and perhumid conditions during certain periods of triticale vegetation in 2014 allowed differentiating triticale specimens by resistance to diseases, drought and yield potential. In 2013, field resistance to diseases of all accessions was 9 points. In 2014, resistance of accessions to Septoria leaf blotch ranged from 1 to 7 points. Resistance of the national standard - Korovay Kharkivskyy was 3 points. Forty accessions (12 %) had increased resistance (7 points), of which there were 38 breeding lines and two varieties - Sontsedar Kharkіvskyy and Darkhlіba Kharkіvskyy. The yield capacity of specimens with increased resistance to Septoria leaf blotch (7 points) on average over the study years amounted to 1,73-5,10 t / ha. The specimens of YaTKh 256-14, YaTKh 367-14 and YaTKh 286-14 were more yielding: 5.10, 5.01 and 5.07 t / ha, respectively. Their yield capacity exceeded that of the national standard Korovay Kharkіvskyy by 1.10-1.19 t / ha. Field resistance of accessions to brown leaf rust ranged from 1 to 9 points. Among breeding material, specimens with increased resistance of 7 points (53%) and medium resistance of 5 points (20%) dominated. Resistance of the standard Korovay Kharkivskyy was 7 points. We selected 261 accessions with increased resistance to this disease. Of these, resistance of 29 accessions was 9 points, in two accessions it was 8 points, and 230 accessions had 7-point resistance. Comprehensive assessment of spring triticale accessions discriminated genotypes that combine high yields with increased resistance to the pathogens of brown leaf rust (7-9 points), high or medium resistance to the pathogens of Septoria leaf blotch (5-7 points), lodging resistance (7- 9 points), uniform dense haulm and large well-filled grain.

            Conclusions. YaTKh 132-14, YaTKh 432-14 and YaTKh 289-14 lines were noticeable for high resistance to the pathogens of brown leaf rust (9 points) and are valuable sources of this trait. The yield capacity of YaTKh 256-14, YaTKh 443-14, YaTKh 398-14, YaTKh 286-14, and YaTKh 367-14 lines with increased resistance to the pathogens of Septoria leaf blotch (7 points) was higher than that of the national standard Korovay Kharkivskyy by 0.85-1.19 t / ha. They are valuable sources of increased resistance to Septoria leaf blotch. Comprehensive assessment of spring triticale discriminated specimens that combine enhanced resistance to diseases with high yield capacity, lodging resistance, technological grain quality and other economic traits: YaTKh 132-14, YaTKh 432-14, YaTKh 398-14, YaTKh 256-14, YaTKh 286-14, YaTKh 367-14, YaTKh 287-14, YaTKh 467-14, YaTKh 307-14, and YaTKh 474-14. The lines selected are characterized by a constellation of valuable traits and properties, vary by length of the growing season, height, ear structure and other morpho-physiological parameters, therefore they can be used in different directions of breeding.
