COLLECTION FORMATION AND USE

Abstract

Goal. Formation and study of a white lupine collection; selection of the most valuable in terms of economic characteristics sources for their further use in breeding; creation of working collections on their basis. Results and Discussion. The article presents the results of studying the white lupine collection. Collection material is represented by 427 accessions of different eco-geographical origin. Most of the accessions (105) are from Ukraine, and account for more than 25.9% of the total collection. Large parts fall on accessions from Portugal (32 [7.9%]) and Spain (31 [7.6%]). There are accessions from Germany (27 [6.7%]) and Hungary (19 [4.6%]). Comprehensive assessment identified sources of very high seed yields (350-400 g/m2): „ Don‟ and „Ell Harrach 4‟, which belong to the green manure group. Green manure accessions „Don‟, „UD0800865‟ and „Ell Harrach‟ are the standards of high green mass yields (4.1-6. kg/m2). It was found that green manure accessions differed from fodder ones by higher seed and green mass yields and by taller plants. Fodder accessions „Kormovoy‟ and „Dega‟ are sources of high nutritional value (> 65). Green manure accessions „Hadmers bleberner N.‟, „UD0800808‟ and „UD0800847‟ are sources of high resistance to Fusarium wilt (9 points). The work collection contains all varieties of white lupine (Subroseus Libk., Vulgaris Libk., Abissinicus Libk., Albiflorus Atab., Vavilori Atab). We identified standards with high alkaloid content („UD0801708‟, „UD0800930‟), which belong to the green manure type, and with low alkaloid content („Rapsodiya‟, „Chabanskiy‟), which belong to fodder type. In the collection, we also distinguished standards with indeterminate (6309, „Hadmers bleberner K.‟), determinant („Dega‟, „Gama‟) and intermediate („Veresnevyy‟, „Siniy Parus‟) type of development, which are both from fodder and from green manure groups. Сonclusions. The 4year study resulted in formation of the working collection representing the genetic diversity of varieties and breeding lines. Each trait and gradation has corresponding standards. Varieties-standards reflect more specific and stable expression of a trait. The collection was created by 14 basic traits and 49 gradations and contains accessions from 21 countries (Ukraine, Brazil, Portugal, Germany, Australia, Hungary, Poland, Spain, Italy, Russia, Sudan, Algeria, Palestine, Morocco, Poland and others). The standard accessions selected can serve as sources of economically valuable features to create starting material for breeding a new generation of varieties.
