FRUIT QUALITY OF INTRODUCED PEACH AND NECTARINE VARIETIES

Abstract

Goal. Determine marketability and palatability introduced peach and nectarine varieties underSouthern Steppe of Ukraine.Results and discussion. Results of variety studying of 20 introduced peach and nectatrine varieties aregiven. Fruit of yearly maturing peach varieties Kaprise and Harrow Beauty have medium fruit size(which is characteristic for early maturing varieties), round shape, yellow-orange fibrous andgristlyconsistency of meat, respectively, attactive appearance, good taste qualities. Late maturing peachvarieties Corindоr and Montar have big and very big fruit of round shape, with yellow-orange fibrousandgristly meat, good and excellent taste qualities. Among chosen nectarines, early maturing varietiesRose Diamond, Super Queen, Spring Bright, Diamond Ray have big fruit with oval and egg-shapedshape, yellow and yellow-orange meat color, of fibrous and fibrous-gristy consistency, excellent tastequalities. Macrocarpous late maturing nectarine variety Zephir has green-white meat color of gristyconsistency and detachable pit, and excellent taste qualities. Peach varieties Gold Line, HarrowBeauty, Montar, Harrow Diamond and nectarine variesty Diamond Bright had zero variability ofappearance and taste attractiveness, which showes high adaptivity of these varieties to certaincultivation conditions.Conclusions. As a result of pomological evaluation, the best fruit quality varieties were selected: forpeach - Harrow Beauty, Kaprise, Corindоr and Montar; for nectarine – Rose Diamond, Super Queen,Diamond Bright, Diamond Ray, Zephir.
