Abstract
Goal. Display nearly 100-year practice period of Myronivka Wheat Institute. n.a. Remeslo NAAS of Ukraine (MWI), the historical stages of bread winter wheat breeding carried on by different methods.Results and discussion. The paper presents the results of analysis of nearly 100-year period of activity of department of wheat breeding at the Myronivka Wheat Institute n.a. Remeslo when using different methods of breeding and theoretical elaborations behind the basic foundations of winter wheat breeding. Winter wheat varieties which have been developed by the efforts of several generations of breeders are divided conventionally into five stages: I stage (1915-1948), II – (1949-1969), III – (1970-1980) IV – (1981 -1999), V – (2000-2009), VI – (since 2010). For these years, at the department there have been developed 110 varieties of different types including 45 ones being released in any years or entered into the State registers and were widely grown in Ukraine and abroad. This year fifty years have passed since releasing Mironovskaya 808 (1963). Up to now this variety is grown in 8 of the 12 regions of the Russian Federation and in 5 regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.Conclusions. Using various methods of winter wheat breeding for nearly 100-year period of activity wheat breeding were distributed 110 varieties of winter wheat, 45 of them were zonning in Ukraine and abroad.
