Abstract

The results of the tripe carried out by the NCPGRU and Ustimivs’ka Experimental Station for Plant Production in order to collect samples of the gene pool of cultivated plants and wild relatives in the areas in Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv and Odessa regions in summer 2011 are presented in the article. 368 samples belonging to 87 species, of which 50 are cultivated and 37 are wild, were collected in 57 localities. In particular, areas of cultivation and indigenous local names of chickpea and grasspea were identified; 22 and 10 samples of these crops respectively were collected. The collected samples of Phaseolus beans (39 samples), pumpkin (13), zucchini (17), tomato (11), potato (12) and other crops are characterized by different morphobiological, tehnologіcal and taste properties. The value of the collected materials is its adaptability to drought conditions of South-East of Ukraine. The expedition results indicate the advisability of further investigations of the region, encompassing other towns and attracting a wider variety of species. The collected samples are transferred to the institutions of the System of Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine to estimate their economic and biological characteristics, definitions whether they should be included in the national collection and to use in breeding and researches.
