Abstract

The results of the researches to create a new source material for breeding of tomato varieties and hybrids suitable for whole fruit conservation and processing on tomato products. The high level of heterosis for pectin matter content have hybrids, one of parent component of which is the cultivar Rio Fuego. In the F2 and subsequent generations, were selected most productive plants of determinant types with high physical and mechanical properties of fruits and of other valuable economic traits. As much as 17 new breeding lines were created as a result of selection from F4 Otranto (rin) and also from the combinations Karas/Marshmallow, Robot/Rio Fuego, Iskorka/Rio Fuego, Hercules/Rio Fuego, Morioka 20/Asteroid; F5 Karas/Asteroid-asteroid Ast/Seagull, Robot/Marshmallow, Asteroid/Seven, Morioka 17/dg//Asteroid. The lines are characterized by a high protopectin content in the fruit - an average of 58 %, what is higher than the standard by 7 %, in combination with a set of other economic traits. High level of protopectin content is observed in both lines with the gene of delayed maturation (keeping quality) rin, as also in the lines without these genes, combining material in breeding mutant and polygenic variation. To improve the technological properties of tomato fruits, it is appropriate to use other genes for keeping quality - alc, nor et al. The created lines are promising for use in breeding F1 hybrids for whole fruit conservation and processing on tomato products, and as source material for other breeding areas. The lines with high total pectins and protopectin can be used in breeding for suitability for mechanized harvesting of fruits.
