Abstract

As a result of many-year activities with the chick-pea collection in the National Centre for Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine it has been proved experimentally that for systematization of the cultivated species of Cicer arietinum L. it is better to use I. V. Seferova’s classification providing a more precise identification for subspices and varieties of chick-pea despite of the location of reproduction of a sample. While analyzing 1852 samples of this crop new varieties of Cicer arietinum L., were found and recommended to enrich the by I. V. Seferova: сonvar. sphaerico-angulosum var.viridis - UD0500115 (AFG); сonvar. arietinum var. atrum - NEC 2302, UD0500944 (USA); C 150, UD0500954 (IND); сonvar. arietinum var. pomaceus - Verano, UD0500727 (CAN); сonvar. pisiformum var. piceus - КП 3990, UD0501172 (UKR). For simplification of this classification’ application specimens-references for the varieties of cultivated chick-pea have been selected.
